Assertiveness Training

Overview

What is this course about?

From making and refusing requests to taking part in discussion and debate, assertiveness makes a difference to other people's perceptions of who we are and how much value they should place on our opinions. Requesting pay-rises, negotiating with difficult customers or turning down an offer of overtime can seem daunting, but approach the situation assertively and you'll be amazed by the results you can achieve.

Assertiveness isn't about being stubborn or aggressive, but about being clear and confident. As a result, even the most passive of people can learn to use techniques and approaches that yield real results. You'll identify your primary behavioural type, learn how others perceive you, and develop new skills to get what you want more often.

Learn about 360 degree communication, how to convey a message without speaking and how to say "no" and make sure others know you mean it!

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for anyone who has difficulty asserting themselves. Delegates typically include those who lack confidence when making requests, or those who "ask but don't get" because others see them as aggressive or domineering. You might be working in, or moving into, a role that requires you to lead a team, or might be able to see opportunities in your life that you could take if you were able to assert yourself positively. If you can identify at least one situation that would have turned out differently with an assertive approach then this course is for you.

Need a tailored course?

Whilst we have designed this course to cover a comprehensive range of skills and strategies relating to making yourself more assertive, we understand that you may have specific areas you wish to target within your organisation. We can adapt our training to focus on specific areas for development, provide an additional follow up training programme or offer coaching and mentoring for subsequent scenarios where assertiveness would be of benefit to you or your team.

At Star Training we understand the importance of achieving value for money with your training budget, so if you would like to discuss how we could design a bespoke course for your organisation, please contact us.
